North West Legislature debates Micro and Macro Economic Dynamics issues, 24 Aug

On Thursday, 24 August 2017, the Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Hon. Sussana Dantjie will hold a House Sitting where Members of all Political Parties in the Legislature will debate Micro dynamics which entail monetary issues that can be controlled by the state to influence the economy and Macro dynamics which entails political factors, issues around power and historical legacies that influence the economic dynamics of the North West Province.

The Sitting will be held at the Legislature Chamber at 9h00.

President Jacob Zuma co-chairs Second Session of South Africa-Mozambique Bi-National Commission, 25 Aug

President Jacob Zuma will travel to Maputo, in the Republic of Mozambique to co-chair the Second Session of the South Africa-Mozambique Bi-National Commission (BNC) with the President of the Republic of Mozambique, His Excellency President Filipe Nyusi.  

The two leaders will convene the BNC on Friday, 25 August 2017. The BNC is the highest mechanism governing bilateral relations between the two countries. The Agreement establishing the BNC was signed on 13 December 2011, and the inaugural Session took place in October 2015.

The Deputy Minister of Communications, Ms. Tandi Mahambehlala (MP), will host a community dialogue with a local radio station in Cape Town Radio Zibonele FM. The dialogue emanates from the high prevalence of abuse and femicide in our society. The dialogue will outline the systems put in place by Government to addressing this scourge.

Urban Safety Report: Urgent resourcing of SAPS required

The State of Urban Safety Report released today should be a wakeup call for national police management.

The finding of a 40% increase in the murder rate in Cape Town in the last 5 years is in line with our own analyses of crime stats trends.

A clear trend emerges from these stats: the majority of violent crime in Cape Town occurs within 10 policing precincts – representing just 7% of all precincts in the province.
