11 August 2018 Horse riding accident- St Lucia: HEMS Shortly after midday today, the Black Eagle/IPSS aeromedical helicopter responded to a horse riding accident in St Lucia, KZN Upon arrival of the helicopter, Mounties private ambulance service and a local doctor had initiated advanced life support interventions on the injured female rider. It is reported that she was riding a horse along a trail when the incident occurred. The seriously injured rider was airlifted to a near by hospital for specialist care. We would like to thank Mounties and ICE ambulance service for there assistance on scene. Two people, killed in a head on crash in KwaZulu-Natal at the weekend, were related to British monarch, Queen Elizabeth. Louise Sword and her 13-year-old daughter, Tabitha, were killed when the H100 that they were travelling in collided head-on with a car.

11 August 2018 Bus accident 5 Dead, 33 Injured - HEMS On Saturday afternoon, the Black Eagle / IPSS Aeromedical helicopter was activated to Ulundi where a bus accident occurred on the road between Empangeni and Melmoth. Sadly 5 passengers , 4 adults and a child, have sustained fatal injuries. Paramedics from numerous private and provincial services treated 33 patients for injuries on scene. 6 people were found to have sustained critical injuries, 12 patients with moderate injuries and 15 patients suffered only minor injuries. 3 critically injured patients were airlifted to hospital by Black Eagle/IPSS aeromedical and Mercy Wing 4 helicopter. We would like to thank all emergency services that assisted on scene and extend our sincere condolences to all victims and their families.
